Applications must be received by: March 15th, 2024

Each year the Wixom Community Foundation will offer one or more scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The scholarship monies can be used for tuition, books and classroom materials for any qualified institute of higher learning. The awards are determined on a competitive basis and require the submission of an essay and a completed application. Applicants must be current residents of the City of Wixom and have resided here for at least 2 years.

ESSAY: Applicants must write and submit a 500 word essay in MLA (Modern Language Association) format on the topic provided. For more information go to www.MLA.org. Essays will be judged by a panel and selected based on creativity, adherence to the essay topic and technical merit. Many essay writing guides exist to help students through this process. Only one essay per applicant will be accepted.

ESSAY TOPIC: The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?

You will be prompted to upload your essay at the end of the application form.

LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION: A letter of recommendation from a current or past instructor, administrator, community or church leader familiar with your qualifications and character should be included with the application.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AND VOLUNTEERISM: The applicant’s contributions to community service and volunteerism will be a large part of the selection criteria. Make sure to list all of your activities including one-day events.
