The Wixom Community Foundation was born out of the the City of Wixom Community Endowment Trust which was initially established in 1996 by the Wixom City Council to assist in the philanthropic interests within the community. In 2009, the community leaders conceived the concept of a non-profit community foundation as a means to address the needs of the individual, family and community.
Through the creation of the IRS 501(c)(3), corporation, cultural, educational, beautification, historic preservation, public building, recreational, human services and other charitable/philanthropic initiatives could be pursued.
On September 8, 2009, the Wixom City Council established the Wixom Community Foundation and subsequently appointed its first Board of Directors.Since that time the Wixom Community Foundation By-Laws were adopted on October 15, 2009.
The Foundation, in addition to assisting the needs of the community, will also focus on the establishment of a long lasting relationship with both corporate and individual residents of the City. Bringing people together with a highly personal approach to giving that contribute toward a vibrant healthy community, for future generations and will become a permanent part of a lasting endowment.
