Congratulations to the winners of 2017 Wixom Community Foundation scholarships! The WCF presented the students with their scholarships on Thursday, July 20th at Wixom’s Hot Blues & BBQ at Sibley Square Park in downtown Wixom.

Rzeznik Continuing Education Scholarship $1,000

Scholarship winner: Mark Foster of Wixom

Curriculum to Study: Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Focus

School attending in Fall 2017: Kettering University
Kettering University is a private cooperative education and experiential learning-based university in Flint, Michigan, offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees in STEM and business fields.

Activities/Honors/Achievements:
Eagle Scout, Career Technology Education Student of the Year, MVP Boys Varsity Bowling, Marching Band Most Spirited Award, MI Industrial and Technology Education Society (MITES) Division Champion for Mechanical Drafting, and won (6) first place awards at the state level in 2015.

Extra-Curricular Activities/Community Involvement:
WLW Marching Band, Jazz Band, Varsity Bowing Team, Boy Scouts of America, NHS

Employed at Smart Link Solutions, Robotics in Wixom.


Louanne Saenz Education Scholarship $1,000

Scholarship winner: Shayna Roble of Novi

Curriculum to Study: Neuroscience and Pre-Med
School attending in Fall 2017: University of Michigan – Ann Arbor

Activities/Honors/Achievements:
Drum Major of Marching Band, Captain of Soccer Team, Academic Excellence Award for student athletes (3 years in a row), AP Scholars award which is granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams, Silver Key in scholastics for Photography.

Extra-Curricular Activities/Community Involvement:
Currently employed at Fox Run Retirement Community in Novi.
Involved in National Honors Society, Forensics, Soccer, Marching Band, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and Relay for Life
